Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) is a specialized medical procedure used to diagnose and treat conditions related to the bile ducts, gallbladder, and pancreatic ducts. This minimally invasive technique combines the use of endoscopy and fluoroscopy to allow doctors to visualize these structures and address any abnormalities. During ERCP, a flexible endoscope is inserted through the mouth, down the esophagus, through the stomach, and into the first part of the small intestine (duodenum). A contrast dye is then injected into the bile and pancreatic ducts, making them visible on X-ray images.
